He offered a "make" we couldn't refuse.

It's wonderful to see Stuart Feldman recognized for make, the formative software development and systems integration tool ACM Press Release.

Relatively early in my work with computers I was introduced to make and to the programming work pattern of "edit the code and run make." This simplified and supported the work of writing software enormousy. Before long our makefiles were keeping track of module dependencies, compiling code, running tests, updating version control repositories, packaging software and documentation for deployment.

The continuing use of make and the current software development tools such as Ant are a testimony to Dr. Feldman's contributions.
